Mr. Alkady has been a pioneer in the finance world since1982 when he began his career with the Arab Company for Trading Securities (ACTS) in Kuwait (a subsidiary of Kuwait International Investment Company), as a securities trader. In 1983, after undergoing comprehensive training in New York at the UBAF he joined Merrill Lynch as a stock trader and in 1984 he shifted on to the Bank of Kuwait and the Middle East, (BKME) moving on to Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait where he was appointed as a senior trader. In 1986, he followed his career path into Tunisia where he was appointed as the International Division Manager & Treasurer of the Tunis Arab African Bank. As Treasurer, his responsibilities included managing and supervising treasury department activities such as foreign exchange, money markets, equities and fixed income investments. As International Division Manager, he was responsible for the banks international lending and trade finance activities, as well as the asset trading of Euro loans and correspondent banking relations.
In 1992, Mr. Alkady decided to pursue his career independently and returned to Egypt where he established Prime, an investment banking consulting firm. Acting as a consultant to the USAID/Egypt privatization projects, he offered corporate finance services to several Egyptian public holding companies, which included drawing up share flotation strategies through public offering for several industries. Financial services were also offered to KPMG Cairo on valuations of local banking institutions as well as to KPMG Germany on debt restructuring requirements of public business enterprises in Egypt.
Mr. Alkady is currently the Chairman of Prime Holding. Among his business activities, he lectures for several local institutes on topics ranging from capital markets and corporate valuation to foreign exchange trading and money market dealings.
Mr. Alkady holds a BA in International Business and Economics from New England College.
